A brief background on stainless steel

Stainless steel has been around since the early 1900s and though there is some debate over the original inventor of this material, it’s said to be discovered by Harry Brearley, an English metallurgist. On the 13th August 1913 Brearley created a steel with 12.8% chromium and 0.24% carbon, and this is argued to have been the first ever stainless steel. Since then, the material has grown in popularity and its potential has been well and truly recognised, proving to be a game changer within the cutlery industry, whilst it can now be found in almost every sector of the manufacturing industry.
