Traffolyte Information

Traffolyte type engraving material consists of 3 or 5 layers of opaque coloured plastic sheet permanently bonded together. Ideal for signs, labels and machine control panels

Traffolyte is a laminated material of three or five layers of different colours resulting in a muticoloured effect on a single sheet. It is used specifically for machine engraved items and is available  thicknesses of 1.6mm and 3.2mm.

P.T.F.E. Information
(Polytetrafluoroethylene)

P.T.F.E is the most popular of the fluropolymers.
P.T.F.E suffers high elastic deformity under load which reduces it's effectiveness for bearing applications. It can be filled however, to allow it to be used for more demanding applications. Filled P.T.F.E is not suitable for food contact and should be used where increased hardness, creep resistance, and a lower wear rate are needed.

Excellent in:
Weather resistance
Chemical resistance,
Electrical insulation,
Operating temperatures (from -260°C to 260°C),
Thermal stability.

Other properties:
Approved for food use,
Low flammability,
Low water absorption,
Very low coefficient of friction.

Acrylics Information

Due to its easy machineability and cost-effective thermoformation, acrylics are suitable for applications ranging from commercial to domestic products and precision engineering components.
Acrylic sheets can also be extruded, and it's good surface finish and consistent properties make it suitable for glazing applications.

Excellent in:
Transparency,
Weather resistance.

Good in:
Chemical resistance,
Breakage resistance - up to 10x stronger than glass of same thickness.

Other properties:
Will not noticeably yellow within 10 years,
Half the weight of glass,
Non-shatter.

Widely used for many different applications in the building industry.
Point of sale displays.
Sign building.
Catering - displays, guards etc.
Model making.
Exhibition displays in museum and galleries.

Aluminium Production Process
2G works extensively with Aluminium panels are manufactured in-house in a range of thicknesses.
The material is dyed the during the anodising process so that the print is under the anodised surface. These are used extensively for Rack Panels, Mimic Panels and Fascia Panels. The following section is intended to give detailed information on the formation of Aluminum. (Although 2G Products is not involved in this process - all raw materials used by 2G Products for signs, rack panels, mimic panels and fascia panels are supplied ready for 2G to manufacture signs, rack panels, mimic panels and facia panels.

Primary aluminum production is a two-step process that refines alumina and reduces alumina to aluminum metal. It starts with the mining of bauxite ore, a hydrated oxide of aluminium consisting of 36 to 56 percent alumina (Al2O33) and lesser amounts of iron, silicon, and titanium. The Bayer process is used to refine bauxite into alumina. The Hall-Heroult process is used toreduce alumina to aluminum metal by electrolytic reduction. The refining (Bayer process) and the reduction (Hall-Heroult) process are seldom accomplished at the same facility. Details of both processes are discussed below. A schematic diagram of primary aluminum production is shown in Figure 2.2-1.BayerProcess Description In the Bayer process, crude bauxite ore is dried, ground in ball mills, and mixed with apreheated spent sodium hydroxide (NaOH) leaching solution. Lime (CaO) is added to the bauxitemixture to control phosphorus content and improve the solubility of alumina. The resulting slurrymixture is combined with fresh sodium
hydroxide and pumped into pressurized digesters operatedat 105C to 290C (221F to 554F). Digesters are large tanks that are operated at hightemperatures and pressures 413 kPa to 6890 kPa (60 psi to 1,000 psi). After approximately fivehours, the slurry contains sodium aluminate (NaAl2OH) in solution and insoluble red mud. This iscooled to 100C (212F) and a flocculent, such as starch, is added to increase the settling rate of the red mud.
